Finding Grace opens with Honor, a woman arriving in Paris for a stressful Christmas vacation with her husband and daughter, amid infertility struggles. Then something happens early on that changes everything, and I can’t say more than that without ruining it.
The twist is genuinely shocking and kept me turning pages for a while. But that momentum faded and by the end I was bored. The characters felt sketched out rather than fully formed. And the protagonist behaves in ways the book seems to want you to sympathize with but I just didn’t.
This could make for a good book club pick, just because the central ethical question is a juicy one to debate. Beyond that, I’m not sure who the target audience for this book is.
