Love You More is standard Emily Giffin fare. Predictable. Writing that feels pretty basic. But extremely readable with some good plot twists – the kind of book that just keeps you turning pages until you’re suddenly done with it.
Billie is a doctor living in NYC, engaged to a wealthy and handsome fellow doctor named Dean, mid-wedding planning, when she gets a call out of the blue from her high school ex, Mick. The story jumps back in time to trace her childhood in Wisconsin, her friendship with best friend Erin, and her relationship with Mick that started in high school and stretched through med school. Back in the present, Mick shares some awful and life-changing news, Billie jumps on a plane home, and a love triangle forms.
Mick and Billie are likable. They feel like people you might actually know. Fans of Giffin won’t be disappointed, and this is better than her last book, The Summer Pact. This’ll be a hit with Emily Giffin devotees and anyone in the market for quick, easy contemporary fiction that won’t ask too much of you.
