Here’s the setup of Alice Feeney’s My Husband’s Wife: a woman in a small Cornwall town goes for a run one night. When she comes home, the locks have been changed. Her key doesn’t work. Her husband says he doesn’t recognize her. And there’s another woman inside her house, in her place, pretending to be her.
From there it only gets more bonkers. Most chapters end in a plot twist that’ll have you gasping. The story is told in rotating perspectives — the wife, her husband, the detective who gets involved, and more — and Alice Feeney never lets you get comfortable.
Let me tell you – I haven’t read anything this twisty and surprising since Gone Girl. That’s how good My Husband’s Wife is.
I’m a person who loves to read ahead and figure out the ending. Don’t. Resist the temptation with this one. It’s worth it.
Be warned: this is the kind of book you’ll have a hard time putting down once you start it.
