Abby Jimenez has been a must-read author for me for years. Her books reliably deliver swoony male leads, great chemistry, and realistic obstacles keeping the characters apart. The Night We Met has all of that, but is still something of a departure.
Larissa is working multiple jobs trying to pull herself out of poverty when she meets and falls for pharmacist Chris. The catch: he’s best friends with her new boyfriend. You still get all the classic Abby elements, but our leads don’t get together until the very end. And when they do, the romantic dialogue goes a little over the top, even by Abby standards, which took me out of it a few times.
Still, Jimenez is one of the best doing it right now, and this is one of my favorite romances of the year. Not her best, but an easy recommend.
