I picked up Tippi Hedren’s eponymous memoir on the recommendation of Grace Atwood whose taste in books often aligns with mine, despite not knowing much about Hedren.
I thought I’d mostly be getting a book about Hedren’s abuse at the hands of Alfred Hitchcock as she starred in The Birds and Marnie but actually most of the book is about her animal rights work. Reading about the years she has spent living with and raising wild lions, tigers, and more was INSANE. Like a crazy fever dream. It was even weirder learning that she is known as the godmother of the Vietnamese nail salon industry.
I highly recommend this book for readers who love unusual memoirs.
