As a longtime Katharine McGee fan dating back to her Thousandth Floor trilogy, I was immediately sold on “Ungodly Rich” the moment I heard the pitch: Crazy Rich Asians meets Greek mythology. At least, that’s how I’d describe it.
Julia thinks she’s dating Harry. She is not. Harry is Ares, god of war, and his entire family are gods and goddesses, including Zeus, Hera, and Aphrodite. And none of them want Ares marrying a mortal.
It’s fast-paced and fun and will absolutely scratch the Crazy Rich Asians itch. My only complaint is that each god character carries two names, their mortal name and their mythological one, so it takes a little while to sort out who’s who. The ending is also a bit abrupt, but that feels intentional given this is clearly the first in a series.
A beach read for smarties. This one even helped pull me out of a reading slump, which is high praise.
