I’m back from the beach! I got so much reading done while I was gone which was really all I wanted, so get ready for lots of reviews and beach read content coming your way soon!

Meanwhile, I thought I’d give the #MeetMeInMemes challenge a try. I’m not really a meme person but I think these are all at least in the spirit of memes?

Did I do ok? Does this pretty well sum me up?

(Also, I’m realizing as I’m about to post this that it makes me seem really mean and cranky, but, oh well, it’s too late to turn back now!)

What would you say is the appropriate number of bo

What would you say is the appropriate number of books and suitcases to pack for a four night international beach trip?

For me the answer seems to be 9 books and 3 suitcases (1 large checked bag, 1 duffel, and 1 teeny rolling carry-on). But don’t listen to me, because I’m a fucking lunatic.

If you are wondering how one extremely organized person could require so much stuff for such a short and easy trip, come hang out in Stories while I give you a tour of it all and explain my packing process!

Happy pub week to 'Project Hail Mary' and to author Andy Weir, and many thanks to NetGalley and Random House Books for the #gifted ARC of this book.⁠

Project Hail Mary is the latest from @reallyandyweir, author of The Martian. It’s about a man who wakes up from a long sleep to find himself alone, on a spaceship. Oh, and he seems to be responsible for saving the human race. (swipe left for a full summary)

Project Hail Mary has all the vibes that I loved so much about The Martian. The characters are relatable and delightful and funny – really some of the most lovable characters I’ve encountered in years. There’s all that fun outer space space stuff. And the science is so out there that you don’t have to worry about trying to understand it all. The first 1/4 of the book was a teeeeensy bit slow for me but once I got into it I couldn’t put it down. And the ending was *chef’s kiss*.

This is one of the 2021 releases I’ve been most excited to read and it lived up to all of my expectations. Do I want to read it again already? Yes. Yes, I do. I’d recommend this book wholeheartedly to anyone who likes science fiction or movies about friends going on road trips together. You’re in for a real treat.
